The Onleihe is a free service provided by your library, now available as an app that supports over 2,900 libraries.
With this app, you can conveniently access your library anytime, anywhere. Whether you're on the go or at home, you can easily browse your library's collection, borrow eBooks and eMagazines, and read them directly on your smartphone or tablet. The app also allows you to borrow eAudio and eMusic titles, which can be either streamed or downloaded onto your device. Just like the web-based Onleihe, borrowed titles can be enjoyed free of charge for a specific period of time, after which they are automatically returned to the library.
You can search for titles directly within the app or explore your library's collection through various categories and eMagazines. The availability of a title is clearly displayed, and you can refine your search results using a wide range of filters and sorting options.
The detailed view of each title provides all the information you need, including the title, author, series name, length, and more. If a title is currently unavailable, you can place a reservation and receive an email notification when it becomes available. Your reservations are easily managed through an overview, allowing you to borrow the titles as soon as they are ready. You can also edit or delete your reservations if necessary.
Your lent titles can be accessed at any time. Currently, you can borrow, read, and listen to eBooks, eMagazines, eAudios, and eMusic titles.
ACCESS
To access the Onleihe service, you must be an active member of a library that is part of the Onleihe system. Your library will provide you with a username and login credentials. If you already use Onleihe through a web browser, you can use the same login credentials to access the app.
CONSUME MEDIA
You can directly load and read all eBooks and eMagazines that you have borrowed beforehand. Alternatively, you are free to use a different external DRM-enabled eBook reader. For eAudio and eMusic titles, you can either stream them through the in-app player or choose to download them for offline listening. The downloading process also takes place within the in-app player.
